Yarros told GMA that next in the Fourth Wing romantasy series in order will be Onyx Storm, one of the most anticipated book releases of 2025. She remarked, “There will be politics, new adventures, old enemies and of course, dragons.”

My heart stutters and my gaze rakes over Xaden’s tall, muscled frame, searching for any sign of injury. Gold flecked onyx eyes meet mine, and my breath stabilizes only when I realize he’s unharmed and there isn’t a single trace of red to be found anywhere near his irises. He may technically be an initiate, but he’s nothing like the venin we just fought. Gods, I love this man.

On October 18, 2024, Rebecca Yarros shared the back jacket, which has an excerpt in which Xaden calls Violet “the only one capable of killing[him].”

Interviews
Earlier, Yarros participated in a few detailed interviews with Entertainment Weekly and Variety. Here are some of the details she hinted at about Book 3:
“[E]verything you need to know about [Violet’s] second signet is actually in Iron Flame.” It will be revealed in Book 3.
We will learn more about Navarre’s royal family in Book 3.
Book 3 will also show how Aretia has survived without being caught.
Book 3 will explore whether the Sage wanted Xaden, Violet, or both.
Yarros implied it wasn’t the same dream Xaden and Violet had about the Sage. (“It does seem like the same dream, doesn’t it? I think you should really enjoy book three.”)
Book 3 begins at Basgiath because Violet is safe from Xaden there. But we will see more about the weaknesses in the wards. She said the whole point is the question, “[W]ould you give up your shield to become your neighbor’s sword?”
Book 3 will also discuss why Andarna chose to hatch when she learned Violet would be the greatest scribe.
On Instagram, @romantasy_readers_podcast posted clips of Rebecca Yarros speaking about Onyx Storm at an event. A few things she revealed: Violet has “one goal” and doesn’t care what’s in her way in trying to achieve it. Again, she reiterated that Violet’s second signet was in Iron Flame. She said “maybe” we will learn more about Violet’s father’s research.
Teasers
The Publisher, Red Tower Books, shared a brief trailer on Instagram that says:
“She needs to prepare herself. And so do you. There’s every chance this mission will kill us.”
Additionally, Instagram accounts associated with the publisher shared a teaser that reads:
