More Important Notes About Signets
The last time a shadow and lightning wielder fought side by side (like Xaden and Violet) was during the Great War, when they drove the venin back into the Barrens for a few hundred years. (Kindle edition p. 84)
Cat Cordella has a gift of amplifying emotions, but as a gryphon flier, she can’t produce a signet. Nor can she wield behind the wards. This is referenced briefly in Onyx Storm and is explained in more detail in Iron Flame.
As a reminder from Iron Flame, second signets only happen when a dragon bonds a rider in the direct familial line as its previous rider. Also note that all characters with second signets thus far, except Violet, wear the Rebellion Relic.
