- 3: a few open-door romance scenes with some details of sexual encounters
- 4: more than a few open-door romance scenes and/or more explicit details of sexual encounters
- 5: Call it “smut” or whatever else suits your fancy. There is a lot of sex and a lot of details about it. You may need to fan yourself off while reading!

I’ll also note that I prefer books with a spice level around a 1 or a 2 (and nearly never finish a 5), and I thought that the spice level of Iron Flame was just right! There’s a bit of it for those who like it, yet not too much for those who don’t. You can also easily skip past it if you don’t like it.
Age Rating: For Adults 18+
Iron Flame‘s age rating is for New Adults and Adults aged 18 and over.
This is, in part, due to the explicit sex scenes in it. However, also note that there are many adult themes of war throughout, such as violence and death, as well as cursing and other adult language.
Would I allow a teen to read this? I probably would not. However, each parent can make that choice independently based on the information provided here.
